There are many ways you can help build our community and fulfill our goals as Westlakers.
We will also give you opportunities to put something back in to the School if you wish.
We want to be in touch with as many Westlakers as possible, so call yourself a Westlaker and add yourself to our database. If you know of any other Westlakers who may be interested, you can send them links from the emails you receive.
We really want to be in contact with as many Westlakers as possible so it would help us immensely if you and your friends would sign onto the Westlakers database NOW!
The school has its 50th Jubilee coming up next year (2012) and we want as many Westlakers as possible to have the opportunity to join in the festivities.
Contributions of time, goods and Westlake memorabilia are always welcome. You don’t have to be on the Committee and attend meetings to make a big difference to Westlakers’ voluntary efforts. There are numerous projects coming up that will be completed sooner if we have your assistance. So if you can spare a few hours, or have some goods from your business that we may be able to use, please let us know.
Every little bit helps – many thanks!!
We are building a network of Westlaker Bevies around the world. A Bevy is the name for a group of swans, so we couldn’t resist using it. It also has a very appropriate second meaning as a drink (or two), which is not a bad idea when Westlakers get together.
If you are not in Auckland, then you could be just the person we need to help set up a Westlaker Bevy. Wherever you are in the world there are sure to be other Westlakers making their mark! Let us know if you’re interested in setting up a Bevy

Commemorative Stained Glass Windows – “The Stained Glass window has traditional connections to commemoration and memorial. It is an art form of illustration, instruction and enlightenment. It is usually tasked with saying something, or many things – important things – it is not enough to be good looking.” – Rob Garrett, Director, Rob Garrett Contemporary Fine Art (WBHS 1967-1971)
To mark the occasion of the opening of the WBHS auditorium, eight commemorative stained glass windows were designed by long standing art teacher, Dugald Page. The imagery of the windows is closely associated with knowledge, learning and discovery, and contains symbols for the students to recognise, ponder and reflect upon over the years.
In August 2007, the stained glass windows were installed on the east side wall of the Auditorium. Each window is worth $6,250 and many Westlakers either sponsored an individual window, or contributed towards sponsorship of Window 1. Window 6 (windows are numbered right to left in the picture above) remains available for sponsorship, and further sponsorships towards Window 1 are still welcome. Funds received will go toward additional equipment for the auditorium.
Please contact Vicki on 410-1814 or email vfowler@westlake.school.nz if you would like to discuss sponsorship of a Stained Glass Window in the auditorium.
